Board of Directors Meeting Minutes September 15, 2025
TURTLE FLAMBEAU FLOWAGE – TRUDE LAKE
PROPERTY OWNERS’ ASSOCIATION
September 15, 2025 – 6:00 p.m via MEET HOUR Courtesy of Roger Nelson
6:00 PM- Call to Order: Randy Schubert, President
Present: Randy Schubert, President; Randy Payne, Vice President; Roger Nelson, Treasurer; Todd Jirous, Secretary; Directors: Jeff Wilson, Troy Tipton and Tony Utrie. Also in attendance is Zach Wilson.
Discussion was held and determined that we do have a quorum this evening.
The meeting minutes for 4/10/2025, 7/09/2025 and 8/25/2025 were sent out ahead of the meeting. Two minor changes (corrections) were noted on the 4/10 meeting minutes. A motion was made and seconded to accept the meeting minutes with the two changes…the motion carried unanimously.
Some dialog was had on where we can find the past meeting minutes (Web page), and should we share documents through “Google” documents? Tabled for discussion at a later date.
Roger provided a summary of the Treasurer’s report and having 188 members paid thus far, and YTD expenses totaling $3,200. A motion was made to approve the report, the motion was seconded and carried unanimously
Todd- Water Sampling is completed for this year, and a handful of folks need to enter their data yet. The new MFA process is creating some challenges, but we’re working through them. Todd can enter data for any location if needed.
Mention was made of the upcoming “Lake Leaders” meeting on October 17th at 1:00 pm in Mercer. Currently Todd is planning on attending the meeting to represent the TFFTL POA. Others are welcome if you’re available.
Randy P.- AIS (Aquatic Invasive Species)
- The work day on the Flowage with Jenna and Rayona went well. We’re containing the PLS that’s out there…there are no new locations, and we’re continuing to chip away and decrease the amount of PLS; slowly.
- Suggestion on doing “Survey” teams and “Pulling” teams? Currently our PLS teams do surveying and pulling…and 80% of the time is in the “Surveying” process. As our population ages, we need to tap those folks that can ride in a boat, identify PLS via binoculars, and record the GPS coordinates, and hand those coordinates off to “Pulling” teams that can get in and out of the boat to pull PLS. More dialog, discussion and thoughts at a future time.
- The question was asked, “Can we get the “Discovery Center Volunteers” to help?
- Can we get help from the Lac Du Flambeau Natural Resources Department?
Roger Nelson-Membership
- 188 Paid Members
- 22 New Members
- Currently the biggest challenge is the Post Office and a problem with forwarding mail. We have a PO Box in Mercer (po box 631), and that get’s forwarded to Oakcreek WI, and then on to Roger. 57% of members pay via Pay Pal, which is helpful, but we still need to find a solution.
Troy Tipton shared the UW Extension “Ripples” electronic newsletter.
Jeff Wilson reported that they had their presentation at the Town of Sherman board meeting.
The Presenter did not make it in time for the meeting, but Jeff and Terri did a nice job jumping in and doing the presentation. Jeff had a pre-meeting with Mr. Smiley a week ahead of time, which was very helpful. There were quite a number of comments at the meeting, all supportive of the proposed ordinance. We’re now in a waiting position with the Town of Sherman.
Next Steps:
- Have not heard back from Eric Snow; after 5 attempts
- Meeting date; October 9th at 5:30 pm
- Randy S. to contact the TFF Business Association President (Kathy) to gain their support
- We’ve done all that we can at this point for the Town of Sherman
- Jeff will birddog the meeting date, and that we’re on the agenda; we’ll be using the same process for communicating as we did at the Town of Sherman.
Roger/Randy
Should we, at this time make a donation to LWA? Perhaps $500? A motion was made by Troy.
Jeff had a question on if it should be contingent on success? Maybe we should hold for now? All were in favor of tabling the donation discussion for a later date.
100th Anniversary
Tabled for now and waiting on the Mercer Chamber of Commerce for what, if anything that they may be doing. Some thoughts and dialog were exchanged.
Monthly meeting is a good idea? Yes! Will work to get the agenda out a week ahead of time.
Meeting adjourned at 7:35 pm
Respectfully submitted,
Todd Jirous
Secretary
